Presbyterian Mission Opens in Bonners Ferry
After many years of no Presbyterian ministry in Boundary County, the Great Western Presbytery of the Bible Presbyterian Church, General Synod, launched a mission work here in Bonners Ferry in the Fall of 2010. The mission, called “Providence Bible Presbyterian Church,” was initiated at the call of several families in the area to Presbyterian Missionary Union, an agency of the Bible Presbyterian Church, General Synod. Planning began in the spring of 2010, and formal services in homes began in September. Beginning Sunday morning, December 5, the mission church moved its services to the Bonners Ferry Visitor’s Center downtown. Then, in September of 2011, the congregation moved into its permanent location at 6530 Washington Street in Bonners Ferry. In October of 2011, the Presbytery received the congregation as a full particular church into its membership.
The work is led by Pastor Len Pine, a Home Missionary of the BPC Northwest Presbytery and the Field Director of Presbyterian Missionary Union. The BPC is a conservative body that regards the Bible as the inerrant and infallible Word of God, and seeks to walk in submission to God’s Word in both preaching ministry and practice. Rev. Pine moved with his family to Bonners Ferry from the Buffalo, New York, area to relocate PMU here and begin work with the new congregation. Prior his work in New York, Len started and pastored another Bible Presbyterian church in Scappoose, Oregon. He has been serving the BPC denomination in various ministry capacities since 1980, and as an ordained minister since 1995.
We are eager to welcome the public to our services, and to be a positive blessing in the community. Sunday services begin at 9:00 in the morning for prayer, then 9:30 for Bible study and at 10:30 for worship. On Wednesdays, our North Idaho Bible Institute ministry gathers at 7:00 weekly. Pastor Pine can be reached at the church office by calling 267-3327. We look forward to meeting you!
